Chuuk Traffic

There’s no denying that everywhere we go we have our share of traffic and parking woes…… yup! It’s stressful. In Chuuk, we don’t have a word for traffic so we cannot translate “STUCK IN TRAFFIC” to our Chuukese language. Hahaha. Mwej non traffic? Naaah! Although on Weno nowadays been crazy. We look out from our shop everyday and see a long line starting from CPUC and Midland heading towards the intersection at FSM Supreme Court and My Box(on TIROW AVENUE). Heading to town from Iras – Kurassa – Mechitiw side, the line starts at J-Square, Sasukoto and His & Hers. At Berea and Ace after school is even crazier. They gotta figure something out fast people getting high blood over heating at the same time about to blow up…. Because of this, drivers are not as generous as they use to. Like really really really stingy nowadays. Hehe. That extra minute in traffic won’t hurt. I know, it’s the heat the slow movement that stresses all of you out. MAYBE WE DON’T BELONG IN CARS.

THEN WE GOT OUR OCEAN TRAFFIC… which there’s really no traffic no road no pathway no rush no speed limit… just either bumpy or smooth sailin’. There’s never ever any stress on or after a boat ride. Only jolly joy rides!! Every time we pass each other we’re gonna wave at each other like we know each other. FROM-THE-SAME-VILLAGE-know-each-other kine…. hehe. Might as well change the term from boat rides to joy rides. Hhahaha.

With all these being said, just wanna remind everyone before you go out on the road download yourself some songs by Ozeky or Tboy or OneWay or Skilo or whoever your favorite Chuukese artist is (Franko hurry up with the album) and listen to ’em in traffic behind that slow GPPC dump truck or Xavier school bus. Don’t let that road stress get to you. Stay happy stay jolly stay tirow!! One love!!
